What does the PTO look like and where do I fit in?

The PTO wants you!

There are many working groups within the PTO.
Communications
develops and executes a strategy for open, consistent, accurate information between the school and the Pierce community using mechanisms such as:
Outreach
fosters a sense of community, welcomes and eases the transition of new families and strives to increase the involvement of under-represented Pierce families while supporting a welcoming environment for all members of the community (regular community breakfasts, kindergarten registration, 1st day of school, conduct tours for prospective families
Fundraising
develops and executes the fundraising strategy to ensure PTO activities are properly funded throughout the year (develop strategy, determine fees for events, annual fund drive, etc.)
Events
organizes and runs various events for students and needs event volunteers.
Room Parents
Each class has one or two designated room parents to help the teacher with classroom activities and community building. In addition, the room parent serves as another communication mechanism between the school and its community.
Volunteerism by grade
Each grade group is assigned to volunteer at an event to ensure all our events are staffed as needed and help build community in each grade group.

- The Bridge – help needed to write content and publish weekly newsletter
- ‘a’Bridged – ‘just-in-time’ announcements via email
- PTO website – maintain and write content for website, technical support
- In school flyers and other communication mechanisms - help distribute information via paper and bulletin boards.
