The purpose of the Read-a-Thon is to get our students excited about reading while at the same time raising important funds for the PTO that directly support our teachers, students and Library!

Download Pledge Form
Download Reading Log
Here are important details about the Read-a-Thon:
  • Students will set their own goals and read as much as they like, January 22nd through January 26th.
  • All reading counts whether the student reads independently or someone reads to them. A parent, or another adult, should initial each entry on the log form.
  • Students will raise money by collecting pledges from family and friends (suggested pledge amount is $0.05 - $0.10 per page).
  • Prizes will be awarded to classes and students that log the most number of pages read!

Timeline:
  • Week of January 15th: Start collecting pledges! Help your child ask people you know to sponsor your child by pledging a donation for each page your child reads during the week of January 22nd to January 26th.  Let them know all funds raised will go directly towards supporting Pierce students and teachers.
  • January 22nd – January 26th: READ, READ, READ! (Students can continue to collect pledges throughout the week) Put those screens down and read, enjoy face time and conversation about your reading!  Don’t forget to use the reading log to record the number of pages read each day.
  • January 29th – February 2nd: Collect pledge money from your sponsors!
  • February 2nd: Return Read-a-Thon packet
Pledge Sheet, Reading Log and donations should be returned in an envelope to your Classroom Teacher.

*** DEADLINE FOR RETURNING PLEDGES IS FEBRUARY 2nd ***

Donations and reading logs received after February 2nd will gladly be accepted, but cannot be counted toward prizes.
